Getting the chemistry and process engineering right to brew the perfect craft beer.
This team is open to students of all majors, however students that are looking to expand their knowledge in the fields of thermodynamics, process engineering and microbiology will feel at home the most here.
The work using the teams dedicated small scale brewing device in its own food science laboratory aims to move away from reproducing well known recipes towards developing new recipes. These could then be taken to competitions, potentially developing industry contacts and with that career opportunities for students and opportunities for small scale research.
This team has been hit especially hard by the corona pandemic, due to the hygienic nature of brewing. The facilities have been at a standstill since spring of 2020. Due to this most of the previous group members have either graduated or focused on other aspects of their studies. An introductory meeting on campus sometime this winter semester is in the works to create a new group of team members to continue the work.
